May & Johnson, P.C. was founded in 1925 in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, by B.O. Stordahl and Lloyd Waggoner. Throughout its rich history, the firm has attracted a host of standouts in the legal profession. Robert G. May was one of the country's leading attorneys in the field of motor carrier law. The firm's attorneys have also included a South Dakota Governor and one of the youngest United States Attorneys in the country's history. Firm member Richard Travis was the 2007-2008 President of the South Dakota State Bar Association. Firm members are also active in the Defense Research Institute and the International Association of Defense Counsel, and include past presidents of the South Dakota Defense Lawyers Association (Lon Kouri).
